What Is the Florida Teacher Certification Math 6-12 Exam?

The Florida Teacher Certification Math 6-12 Exam is a certification exam for aspiring educators to teach mathematics for grades 6-12 in Florida. The FTCE Math 6-12 is one of four FTCE tests administered and is a subtest of the Subject Area Examinations (SAE) test category. The Florida Department of Education approved this FTCE subject area exam which seeks to measure a candidate's knowledge of mathematics concepts and their professional readiness to teach in the Florida school systems.

A computer-based test (CBT) administers the exam. Candidates coming from teaching programs approved by a state or those in programs not approved by a state may sit for the exam. The FTCE exam is open for all to take at designated FTCE testing locations; however, there are educational requirements for certification that examinees need to be aware of when applying. The FTCE retake policy sets no limit to the number of times candidates can sit for the exam.

Passing Scores on the Florida 6-12 Math Certification Exam

All FTCE tests and subtests are PASS or NOT PASS. Candidates' FTCE scores on the FTCE Math 6-12 exam must meet a minimum scaled score of 200, which equates to about 67% of the test questions (raw score). Candidates must pass all the subtests taken. If candidates fail a subtest exam, they can pay for the FTCE retake fee to be eligible for a retake after 31 days. A PENDING score indicates that the test could be delayed or unavailable.
